Biography

Born and raised in Barcelona, Irene moved to Munich to pursue her studies in chemistry and obtained her Bachelor’s degree at the LMU, with a thesis in the group of Prof. Trapp on prebiotic chemistry. After that, she enrolled in the chemistry Master’s program, where she soon discovered an interest in pharmacology, while conducting her minor subject internship in the group of Dr. Breit at the Walther-Straub-Institute. With additional experience gained in organic synthesis in the group of Prof. Carell, she decided to combine her two interests and join the group of Dr. Konrad for her Master’s thesis. Here she develops new chemotypes to establish novel covalent drugs that target non-small cell lung cancer.
